The best way to correct citizens is to readapt them to the rules and educate them so they can behave better and live in society, in certain cases such as murders, rapes and others it is necessary that these people are not at liberty because they can be a great danger to others because it has been demonstrated that these types of people do not change.
I think that the freedom is the most necesary think for a human and I understand that in some cases we break the rules only for demostrate us that we have the control but we need rules at the same time and if we are going to break the rules have a very goo justification. E.g. in China you can kill someone if the person was attackin you but here in Colombia is ilegal and in some cases we can go to the prison for kill the person when we was protecting us
