  1. Earthquake transformation.

In the earlies 1998, nobody hoped that at 1:20 pm occurred. The land started to move so strong from one side to another quickly and in that moment, it was difficult to find what to do. But no all finished there, sadly, a replic with a similar magnitude shake again and took out of place at the majority of the people, just 4 hours after.

Armenia city was considered totally destroyed after that and it would be necessary to rebuild again from zero. An incredible quantity of families stayed without one o more relatives, without a place where live and expose to the criminal actions and diseases. The next few days were a complete chaos and the afraid was present in all the survivors.

As a result of this event, this city began to appear in the eye of the national and international institutions and they started to help. The citizen became to work, the authorities established the orden again and the recovery came. Slowly people were finding reasons to keep going and fight day by day and today we can say that Armenia is one of the best places to live in Colombia.

  2. 1960 Valdivia earthquake

The 1960 Valdivia mega earthquake, also known as the great earthquake in Chile ( this country is believed by scientists and experts to be a country with the highest seismic activity in the world), was an earthquake that occurred at 3:11 p.m. local time on Sunday, May 22, 1960. Its epicenter was located in the vicinity of Traiguén, Malleco province, and whose magnitude was established between 9.3 and 9.5 MW.

It is known to have been the largest and most powerful in recorded history, the mega earthquake shook 1,000 kilometers of land and sea. In addition, this produced a series of tsunamis that spread throughout the Pacific Ocean and whose effects were felt as far afield as Japan, the Philippines and Hawaii, killing more than 230 people. There were recorded waves up to two meters in Japan, 22 hours after the earthquake in Chile.

In the same way, it caused the eruption of the Puyehue volcano, which began to show signs of instability since the earthquake occurred due to agitation of the magma chamber, causing the rise of magma to the surface.

Sadly, this natural disaster is estimated to have taken the lives of between 16,556 and 20,007 people and left more than 2 million victims.

  3. If we consider space calamities as natural disasters there is couple of scary ones, a big enough meteorite can wipe almost all life on the earth, the sun will eventually will engulf the earth and destroy everything on it, a cosmic ray of energy from an exploding can struck the earth and kill us all or simply we can get trapped in a black hole without hope for escape. It is hopeless to think about how to avoid this situations but at least they are extremely rare (except the sun one, that will happen regardless)
